Okay, i go on my computer, and total security is there. i knew it was fake, so i was installing an anti-malware program when the computer freezes. upon rebooting, the virus has completely taken over my system. i cant access the task manager to manually cancel the preocess, i cant get into anything, as the program claims that they are “infected” and cannot start. I need this off of my computer now, and i can follow instructions to a good extent, just not too much computer lingo. i need to manually remove this program as i cannot access ANYTHING. Please help. do not suggest an antispyware rogram or something, i cannot acces internet explorer, and when i can, i cant start the anti spyware program. HELP ME
I dunno if this matters, but my com is an HP. F2 and F8 dont seem to work for safe mode

Hello. I’m having problems with my internet. I just got Time Warner cable with their “High Speed” internet. and the problem is that it’s more like 56K than “high speed” now i’ve pretty much narrowed it down to a couple things…I’m running an Intel Pentium 3 processor, and i’ve downloaded a couple anti spyware programs which came with a couple of toolbars that obviously didn’t help. Also at one point i had Yahoo! messenger and MySpace messengers on too, which had some program attached to them called “Internet Speed Monitor” which liked to display pop-ups when i wasn’t connected to the internet. needless to say, i’ve deleted all of these, but the problem still persists…slow internet, pop-ups, and i get booted off the internet for no apparent reason…honestly i feel like i’m back in 1995. how would i remedy these problems?

I had a weird thing happen to my computer where I would get a prompt to enter a code to ensure that the computer that I was working on belonged to me. I would enter the number to see what would happen and it would just keep popping up and strangely enough, while the dialog box was open, the mouse arrow would only be able to move withing the box. I wasn’t able to open up anything at all. Whatever this was, it was able to duplicate the Windows Update icon and prompt me to install an anti-spyware program (the pop-up message stated that someone was trying to hack into my files so I need a program to scan my computer). I managed to regain control of my computer and reinstall my operating system but at the cost of losing several files. Does anyone know what this is? Also, spybot is completely useless with this problem because it only fixed about 90 out of 96 problems.

Recently, my laptop has been infected with a FRAUD anti-spyware program called Antispyware2008XP. And it’s a real pain! Every time I click on a site from google, for example youtube, instead of taking me straight to youtube I go to some “other” place that looks kinda like this:

http://www.site-sift-templates.com/wp-co…

Therefore, I have to click Cached just so I can get to the right site & I’ve tried everything that I thought could help me:

-Ad-Aware 2008
-Spyware Doctor
-SmitfraudFix
-Spybot Search & Destroy
-How to remove Antispyware2008XP instructions

But none of them seems to fully get rid of Antispyware2008XP (I still see it’s icon in the Add or Remove Programs list). Please help me! :(

mmk so recently i’ve been getting those little yellow windows pop up balloons that say i have a spyware infection on my computer. they come up about every minute or so, and whenever they do this it changes my desktop to a black screen that says i have a spyware problem that needs to be fixed and whateverrr. also once in a while i get these pop up ads for an anti spyware program that costs quite a bit of money. it also sends me to the same ad when i click on the little yellow windows balloons. how can i fix this? also is it possible that i don’t have a spyware infection at all and its just something that got dowloaded on my computer to make all these popups come up as advertisment?

hi, my computer is infected with the program spyware guard 2008.

please could somebody tell me how to remove it?

ive tried downloading all sorts of proper anti spyware programs, but spyware guard keeps blocking access to these sites.

i’d like to do it manually, however all the instructions ive seen on the web say things like delete this file then delete this key etc etc.

i havent a clue how to delete a file, where to find it to delete it or what a key or whatever is, so in your answer could you please make all instructions as detailed, as step by step, and as idiot proof as possible!!!!

many thanks! owl10!!!

i should add, ive already downloaded malwarebytes. i had to change the mbam…exe name to get it to allow me to open setup, but it wont let it run.

i can identify it in msconfig, but cant change due to lack of administrator pasword (xp)

it blocks any webpages with blogs etc with instructons how to remove it, all microsoft sites (to stop me getting sharedview etc)

no joy yet :(

I have some malicious program in my computer. Here’s what it does:

1. Changes my IE homepage.
2. Adds tab popups to my firefox browser.
3. Prevents me from opening my task manager claiming saying I’m not the Administrator.
4. Prevents me from printing pages from the internet.
5. Adds a tool bar to my IE
6. Adds a ton of pop ups showing fake antispyware sites. Certain pop ups resemble a Windows alert pop up.
7. Gives a flash “X” icon on my desktop

I tried my anti-spyware programs and I’m convinced that I should do a system restore or manually remove the trojan.

What should I do and how do I do
The Malware could be the Vundo trojan.

Ive run an anti-spyware program named Adaware and there was found to be over 200 infections. So I scanned and deleted them all, and I immediatly run another adaware scan. This time there was 8 and so I got rid of those too. Now it’s beginning to feel pointless as I did YET ANOTHER scan straight away and now I have 23? Is this normal?
