Macabre Chaos asked:

So I installed Spyware Doctor and ran a couple of scans last night. After manually deleting some malicious processes, cookies, etc., it still shows 3 threats/3 infections on my computer. 2 of them are browser favorites, and 1 is a host entry. When I went to look through all my bookmarks/favorites (I’m using Firefox if that helps), I couldn’t find any of the 2 favorites that Spyware Doctor deemed malicious. I also have no idea how to get to the host entry that it says is dangerous. :/

Can someone tell me how to get rid of the favorites? Is there a folder of some sort that it’s contained it? I’m thinking about just deleting all of them. :/ And can someone tell me how to look at the host entries? Please don’t direct me to an anti-spyware program; I want to delete these manually.

Thanks in advance.
Ok, so I opened up my hosts entries thing with notepad… There’s definitely websites there pertaining to spyware-protector 2009, which is what infected my computer.

91.212.65.127 spywareprotector-2009.com
91.212.65.127 www.spywareprotector-2009.com
91.212.65.127 secure.spywareprotector-2009.com

Can I just simply clear these to get rid of them?
Ok, I think I pretty much deleted the bookmarks and host entries. The only thing Spyware Doctor is showing now are cookies, which just keep reappearing… There’s nothing much I can do to permanently delete those, is there? >_>
